Since 1966, with the first Korean student(Yang-ho Cho | former Chairman, Hanjin Group and Korean Air) at Rectory School, more than 300 Korean alumni have been and will continue to make changes in the world based on what they have learned at Rectory. KAR is committed to supporting, communicating, and maintaining strong relationships with our alumni. And, our proud legacy continues as a result.

My entire professional career has been spent at independent schools, though it was not until I began as Head at Rectory that I had the privilege of working at one.  The unique school qualities made possible by the residential component of this campus environment were immediately apparent, and topping this list was the global community that comprised our student population.

Our first Korean student enrolled at Rectory over fifty years ago. Since then the presence and impact of our Korean students have only grown, and these young men and women continue to distinguish themselves during their careers at Rectory and in their ensuing academic and professional lives.  This is demonstrated in part by the fact that two of our Korean graduates have recently received Rectory’s Emerging Leader Award for distinction in their chosen fields.  Further solidifying this relationship, a Korean alumnus was Rectory’s first international board of trustees member, and he served with impressive renown.

My first international trip on behalf of Rectory School was to Seoul, and I still have vivid memories of that incredible experience.  Since then, I have returned to Seoul on a near-annual basis and each visit conveys the importance our Korean families place on education, the appreciation they have for the work that occurs at Rectory, and the kindness they offer our school representatives.

I treasure the relationship Rectory has with our Korean families and our Korean alumni. You are an impressive group and Rectory is proud of all you have accomplished.  May this partnership continue long into the future.
